Jacqueline Baly Chaumette, President

Jacqueline (Jacquie) Baly Chaumette formed BalyProjects in 1999.

Jacquie has over 20 years of municipal experience, beginning her career as a regional planner for the Houston-Galveston Area Council. She has just completed her term as a gubernatorial appointee to the Brazos River Authority - where she represented Fort Bend and surrounding counties on water and wastewater issues.   Council Member Chaumette was elected to Sugar Land City Council with over 69% of the vote on May 10, 2008.

Ms. Chaumette is a well-known speaker on regional solutions for policy concerns. She has an integral part of the debate on critical issues at the local, state and national levels. She has been featured on KUHF, KTRH, and several radio stations discussing transportation, air quality, water and education policy matters. She also lectures on policy matters at the University of Houston as an adjunct professor.

Ms. Chaumette has won many awards. Her Awards include: Dynamic Woman of Houston, One of the Most Influential Women of Houston, Honoree-Outstanding Young Texan, Honoree-Outstanding Young Houstonian, Honoree- The Houston Chronicle's Woman on the Move, Entrepreneur of the Year, San Jacinto Girl Scouts Volunteer of the Year, Outstanding Minority Public Official (COMPTA); Public Servant of the Year; Planning Volunteer of the Year; Civil Servant of the Year; Planning Leader of the Year; Outstanding Female Executive and Outstanding Business Owner in the Planning Field.

Before forming BalyProjects, LLC., Jacqueline Baly Chaumette was Vice President of the Transportation/Infrastructure & Environmental Division for the Greater Houston Partnership, Houston's primary business advocate. In this capacity, Ms. Chaumette developed a comprehensive assessment of transportation/infrastructure and environmental policy in the Houston region and worked with state and federal congressional leaders to create legislation pertaining to these issues. In addition, she worked closely with Governor Rick Perry on developing transportation plans and programs for the region and state.

Prior to joining the Partnership, Ms. Chaumette worked in a number of other capacities, including Director of Planning and Community Development for the cities of Seabrook and Sugar Land. She has also served several years as a transportation/air quality project manager for the Houston-Galveston Area Council and the South East Texas Regional Planning Commission.

Ms. Chaumette is affiliated with several boards: City of Sugar Land 4-B Economic Development Corporation-Director, Fort Bend Boys Choir-Director, Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce-Infrastructure Chair, Women in Commercial Real Estate-former National Delegate, Texas CASA-Director, YMCA-past President, Chinquapin School-past Vice President, Fort Bend Professional Women's Group-past President, River Oaks Women's Breakfast Club-past President, and Girls Inc.-Director.  She is also a member of the Center for Houston's Future, 2005 Business-Civic Leadership Forum; Leadership Houston, Class XVIII; Texas Executive Women; the Exchange Club, Rotary and the Junior League of Houston.

A native of St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, Jacquie holds a Bachelor of Science degree in political science and a master's degree in City Planning specializing in Public Policy. She is also a classically trained flutist. She and her husband David have two young sons Raphael and Alexandre.
